Once imported, your Kindle highlights live in a searchable library you can tag, organize and revisit any time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I export my Kindle highlights?
Two ways. From a Kindle e-reader, connect it by USB and upload the My Clippings.txt file in the documents folder. For books bought on Amazon, use the free Web Highlights extension on read.amazon.com/notebook to import in one click.
Where is My Clippings.txt stored?
On your Kindle e-reader. Connect it to your computer with a USB cable, open the Kindle drive, and look in the documents folder for My Clippings.txt.
Do purchased and sideloaded books both work?
Yes. The clippings file includes highlights from Amazon-purchased books as well as your own sideloaded and personal documents. The notebook import covers books purchased from Amazon.
Why can't I export all of my highlights?
Publishers cap how much of a book can be exported, so the Kindle notebook page can hide a large share of your highlights. The My Clippings.txt file from your e-reader is not limited by that cap and is the most complete source.
Can I get my Kindle highlights into Notion?
Yes. Import your highlights here first, then use the Notion export from your Web Highlights account to send them onward.
Is my data private?
Your My Clippings.txt file is parsed entirely in your browser. It never leaves your device and is not uploaded to any server.
