The Art of Slow Growth: How I Grew My Chrome Extension to 100K Users In 5 Years
Mind-changing lessons learned on my journey to build a stress-free side project.
I started Web Highlights in 2019 as a tool just for myself and have been working on it alone since then. It feels like yesterday that it had a whopping 10 users in the first year, and it makes me super happy that now over 100,000 people use it to organize their digital lives.
As a student I was looking for a way to better organize the huge amount of information in the web. I couldn't find a tool that fit my needs - so I built my own. I am still the biggest lover of my own app and am always trying to make it better so that I can enjoy it even more.
There is no evil in this app. I am building this tool alone and there is no company or investor behind me forcing to do things I do not fully stand behind. Many features of my app can be used completely free and you are also not paying with any data.
I'm sharing my experiences of growing this project to where it is today. Feel free to check out my blog articles below, or follow me on LinkedIn or Twitter to learn from my failures and achievements along my journey.
