It started in 2025 with a short list of\n  hand-picked extensions (22 at launch, according to\n  \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.howtogeek.com\u002Fmicrosoft-edge-on-android-has-extensions-now\u002F\" rel=\"nofollow\">How-To Geek\u003C\u002Fa>).\n  Today, you can search the Edge Add-ons catalog right from the menu:\n\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Col>\n  \u003Cli>Install \u003Cstrong>Microsoft Edge\u003C\u002Fstrong> from Google Play and open it.\u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>Tap the menu button (\u003Cstrong>☰\u003C\u002Fstrong>) in the bottom bar, then \u003Cstrong>Extensions\u003C\u002Fstrong>.\u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>Search for the extension you want and tap \u003Cstrong>Get\u003C\u002Fstrong>.\u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>Confirm with \u003Cstrong>Add\u003C\u002Fstrong>. That's it, the extension now runs on every page you open in Edge.\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Fol>\n\u003Cp>\n  Edge may warn you that an extension was not tested on mobile devices. You can still add it. Just don't be surprised if some buttons or popups don't fit on your phone screen.\n\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\n  Here is how that looks with my own extension.\n  \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fweb-highlights.com\">Web Highlights\u003C\u002Fa> is my free extension for highlighting websites and PDFs, and hundreds of thousands of people use it. Since December 2023, you can install every add-on whose developer\n  marked it as Android-compatible. Mozilla's own\n  \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fsupport.mozilla.org\u002Fkb\u002Ffind-and-install-add-ons-firefox-android\" rel=\"nofollow\">help article\u003C\u002Fa>\n  describes it like this:\n\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Col>\n  \u003Cli>Tap the three-dot menu (\u003Cstrong>⋮\u003C\u002Fstrong>), then \u003Cstrong>Extensions\u003C\u002Fstrong>.\u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>Tap an extension to learn more, then tap \u003Cstrong>+\u003C\u002Fstrong> to install it.\u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>Check the permissions it asks for and tap \u003Cstrong>Add\u003C\u002Fstrong>.\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Fol>\n\u003Cp>\n  You can also browse all Android add-ons on \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Faddons.mozilla.org\u002Fandroid\u002F\">addons.mozilla.org\u002Fandroid\u003C\u002Fa>\n  and install them from there.\n\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\n  If an add-on you know from desktop Firefox doesn't show up, its developer hasn't marked it for Android yet. Web\n  Highlights wasn't marked either until recently. It is now: I tested it in Firefox on my own Android phone, and\n  highlighting works just like in Edge.\n\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch2 id=\"kiwi-browser\">What Happened to Kiwi Browser?\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\u003Cp>\n  For years, Kiwi was \u003Cem>the\u003C\u002Fem> answer to \"Chrome extensions on Android\". It was discontinued in January 2025 because\n  its developer no longer had time to maintain it, and its extension code went into Microsoft Edge (see\n  \u003Ca\n    href=\"https:\u002F\u002Falternativeto.net\u002Fnews\u002F2025\u002F1\u002Fkiwi-browser-discontinued-explore-alternatives-for-extension-support-and-security\u002F\"\n    rel=\"nofollow\"\n    >AlternativeTo\u003C\u002Fa\n  >). Please don't install old Kiwi APKs from random websites: an unmaintained browser doesn't get security updates.\n\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\n  If you're looking for a Kiwi alternative that opens the Chrome Web Store directly, a few Chromium-based browsers in\n  Google Play do that, for example \u003Cstrong>Lemur\u003C\u002Fstrong>, \u003Cstrong>Quetta\u003C\u002Fstrong> and \u003Cstrong>Yandex Browser\u003C\u002Fstrong>.\n  The idea is the same in all of them:\n\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Col>\n  \u003Cli>Install the browser from Google Play.\u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>Open \u003Cem>chromewebstore.google.com\u003C\u002Fem> in that browser and find the extension.\u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>Tap \u003Cstrong>Add to Chrome\u003C\u002Fstrong> and confirm.\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Fol>\n\u003Cp>\n  I haven't tested Web Highlights in these browsers, so I can't vouch for them. They're made by small third-party\n  teams, so check who makes the browser and which permissions an extension asks for before you install it.\n\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch2 id=\"samsung\">Does Samsung Browser Support Extensions?\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\u003Cp>\n  Only its own. Samsung Browser, which was called Samsung Internet until recently, has an add-on menu, but the add-ons\n  come from Samsung's Galaxy Store, not from the Chrome Web Store. On a Galaxy phone,\n  \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.samsung.com\u002Fus\u002Fsupport\u002Fanswer\u002FANS10012967\u002F\" rel=\"nofollow\">Samsung describes it\u003C\u002Fa> like this:\n  tap the three-dot \u003Cstrong>Tools\u003C\u002Fstrong> icon, then \u003Cstrong>Add-ons\u003C\u002Fstrong> → \u003Cstrong>Get more add-ons\u003C\u002Fstrong>, and\n  install one from the Galaxy Store.\n\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>So if you need a specific Chrome extension, Samsung Browser won't help you. Use Edge instead.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch2 id=\"best-browser\">Which Android Browser Has the Best Extension Support?\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\u003Cp>It depends on what you need, but here is how I'd pick:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cul>\n  \u003Cli>\n    \u003Cstrong>Edge\u003C\u002Fstrong> if you want the easiest setup. It's one of the two browsers I test Web Highlights on, and it searches the same catalog as Edge on your computer.\n  \u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Firefox\u003C\u002Fstrong> if the add-on you need is marked for Android. It's the same Mozilla store the desktop version uses, and it's the other browser I test Web Highlights on.\u003C\u002Fli>\n  \u003Cli>\n    \u003Cstrong>Lemur, Quetta or Yandex\u003C\u002Fstrong> if you need a Chrome extension that's in neither store. You get the whole\n    Chrome Web Store, but from much smaller teams.\n  \u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Ful>\n\u003Ch2 id=\"why-extensions-break\">Why Do Some Extensions Not Work on a Phone?\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\u003Cp>\n  Almost every extension was built for a computer: a mouse, a right-click menu, keyboard shortcuts and a big screen. On\n  a phone, some of that simply doesn't exist.\n\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\n  While preparing Web Highlights for Firefox on Android, I found out that Firefox for Android has no right-click menu\n  and no keyboard shortcuts for extensions at all. An extension that expects them at startup can stop working\n  completely. Popups are another problem: many are designed for a desktop window and end up cut off on a phone.\n\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\n  So if an extension behaves strangely on your phone, it's usually not your fault. Check whether the developer says\n  anything about mobile support, or look for a web version of the tool instead.\n\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch2 id=\"iphone\">What About iPhone?\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\u003Cp>\n  On an iPhone, the rules are completely different: extensions only come as apps from the App Store, and only Safari\n  runs them.
